People comfort eat to suppress their painful emotions, this goes back to childhood trauma.
Comfort eating is an addiction, Addicts believe they're unable to make themselves feel good so they compensate with their addictions.
The emotional body is addicted to substances/stimulus, it allows the mind to believe they cannot live without their addictions.
To get the emotional body into a healthy state, the individual needs to understand their addictions are hiding a psychological secret.
The most common addictions are Food, Drugs, Shopping, Alcohol, and Sex.
Addiction to food hides starvation in childhood.
Addiction to drugs hides violence....
Addiction to shopping hides shame of feeling like a tramp..
Addiction to alcohol hides behaviour of schizophrenic..
Addiction to sex hides molestation, rape, and abuse..
When the individual realises they have a problem they need therapy. In this process they will gradually stop their addictions and do without, until they understand why they're abusing the things they love.
With food and shopping the individual needs to go back to basic only eating and buying what they need. (The dry period)
In the dry period the individual needs to reconnect to their feelings that they have been running away from.
Once this is achieved the individual is able to bring back into their experiences Shopping, Drugs, Alcohol and Sex in a Healthy, Moderate, Balanced way.
